Report Settings

WebReporter reports may contain a number of sub-reports. Sub-reports can be enabled and disabled though the site profile options dialog.

Report sections

The options available in this list will vary depending on the type of report selected in the Output tab. Items that are checked will be included in the report. If you check or uncheck a section then all of the sub-sections beneath that section will be included or excluded.

By default, all subsections are checked.  Refer to the WebReporter Sub-Reports description for details on the reports available.  Depending on the sub-report selected, settings for that sub-report may appear below the report sections. These settings include Style and Top.

Style

This option is only displayed when a chart sub-section is selected from the list. Select the style of chart you want generated for that sub-section.

Top

This option is only displayed when a sub-section is a table of items.  Enter the number of items you want included in the table.Sub-Reports

 

Sub-Report List

The follow is a list and summary of some of the sub-reports available with WebRepoter. The exact nature of each report will depend on the type of server and the log data available.

General

 

Summary

 

This report gives a general overview of activity for the requested time period.

Activity

 

Current day

 

This report shows the days hourly activity. Note that the default is that the report is generated in the system time of the host server.

Current month

 

This report shows the activity for each day of the month for the report period. This information is useful to determine trends and what day of the month to do system maintenance.

Monthly activity

 

This report shows the activity for the last 12 months. This information is useful to determine trends for marketing purposes in the case of a web server.

Hour of day

 

This report shows the total hourly activity for each hour for the report period.

Day of week

 

This report shows the total activity for each day of the week for the report period. 

Pages

 

Top page requests

 

This reports shows the most requested pages. Tip - Use filters to display hits to specific pages.

Top downloads

 

This reports shows the most downloaded files. Note that this is not always equal to the number of downloaded files as users might have used download managers like GetRight and GoZilla. A resumed download would be counted as a new download request.

Last Page Requests

 

This reports shows a history of the last pages requested.

Broken Links

 

This reports shows requests that could not be fullfiled by the web server i.e. 404 errors. Tip - Use this report for tracking broken links and missing images within a site. This report may also show site hack attempts.

File Types

 

This reports shows a  summary of all file types requested.

Browser Types

 

This report shows the most used browsers that accessed the site. This information is useful to determine if the majority of visitors will see the site as intended. Note that browsers listed as other are typically unknown web spiders. Known web spiders will be displayed in this report.

Operating Systems

 

This report shows the platforms or operating systems used by visitors to the site. This information is useful to find out more about your target market. Note that operating systems listed as other are typically web spiders that do not identify an operating system type.

Server Status

 

This report shows a summary of server status returns for files requested. Tip - this report can be used to see unfullfiled or error requests for Active Server Page (ASP) and Coldfusion sites.

Visitors

 

Regions

 

This reports shows the regions where your clients domain names are registered. Please note that it may not be the actual location of your client. Tip - You must enable the "Resolve IP Addresses" option before requesting this report.

Countries

 

This reports shows the countries where your clients domain names are registered. Please note that it may not be the actual location of your client. Some log analyzers assume that .com and .net domains are located in the US but this is not always true.Tip - You must enable the "Resolve IP Addresses" option before requesting this report.

Domains

 

This reports shows the most active organizations that visited your site and is determined from the domain name suffix.Tip - You must enable the "Resolve IP Addresses" option before requesting this report.

Top Referers

 

This report shows the URL that referred a visitor to a page or file on your site. This information can be used to track banner ads that you have placed on other sites and links to your site from other sites. Note that referrer info must available in your log files to display this information.

Search Engines

 

This report shows a summary of the top search engine searches that were directed to your site.

Key words

 

This report shows the top key words visitors used to find the site on search engines. This is useful to see what words visitors use to find your site. These words can then be used in your meta tags.

Last visitors

 

This report shows a summary of the last visitors to view your site. Tip - this report can be used to gauge recent activity.

Additional user and department information used in some reports may be defined through the Alias manager.
